MONA LISA REVISITED:
RECREATING ARTISTIC ISMS AND THE THE AVANT-GARDE

Picture
OBJECTIVES
  • Obtain a deeper understanding of the process of change in the arts from the turn of the 20th century.
  • Achieve a general appreciation of the Arts (in this case just paintings).
  • To enjoy the creative process acting as a real artist...

TASK

  • Recreate the Mona Lisa, by Leonardo da Vinci, in the style of your artist and chosen movement.
  • You can use whatever media you want (about a size of an A3). There are very appropriate drawing sheets (A3 of 370 grammes) that allow you to work as a real painter...
  • You can use whatever technique you want (water colours, oil, acrylics, pastels, colour pencils...) but it will also depend on the style and artist chosen...
  • Once finished we should be able to recognise to a degree both the original work and the style in which it was recreated

PRESENTATION

  • Short introduction about the artist and the style they represent
  • Talk about your experience during the creative process of recreating the masterpiece

Here you have some more additional information to help you in your research and also with your inspiration... Some of the documents are in Spanish... difficult to find them in English.

Enjoy them and the whole project!!!

The turn of the century was a time of dramatic change in the arts. The notion that art should portray reality in an objective way was abandoned and the subjective and unconscious impression of reality were explored. This revolution happened in all the arts such as music, literature and sculpture, but ita was in painting where these experiments became most evident.
